Africa is a continent with great opportunities in aviation. Of the 54 countries we have in Africa, none has  designed, developed or manufactured an aircraft . Our airlines have been depending on the western  and eastern countries for  man-power  in  aviation maintenance, pilots , spares et cetera. Our  flag  carriers, domestic carriers and  general aviation industries   have  experienced difficulties in   growth as a result  of relying heavily  on the experts from  developed  countries . Aviation training in Africa has been the biggest problem and hence a major contributor in poor aviation development for a long time. However this trend is changing slowly as African airlines have embarked on training her own citizens and offering stiff completion to Western airlines. African aviation training institutions are now emerging and collaborating with universities from Western and Eastern countries to offer aeronautical degree programs to fill this gap.
